Role

UX Researcher

Lead UX Designer

Product researcher

As a part of the You.i TV product team , I was a valuable part of the UX research team for continually improving our product.
Among many other initiatives, I lead the UX Naming Conventions research for our engine.

Challenge

There was a visible disconnect and hence conflict between the way developers and designers named their files and assets. This caused up to 50% delay in achieving the final results due to constant co ordination and corrections.

To help recognize this growing pain, I spearheaded the standardization of Naming Conventions initiative on the product.
Our gal was to achieve -

  • Consistency

  • Clarity

  • Easy Collaboration

  • Standardization

Solution

I started with creating a survey to track the then currently used conventions by the UX team.

Using the results form this survey, I facilitated sessions with the UX team to discuss and agreed upon unanimous solutions as a group. This helped us take into consideration unique problems that designers had encountered in the past, adding more depth to our decisions.

Product

The research led to a UX Naming conventions cheat sheet, that I presented in our Town Hall meeting and was distribute company wide, especially to designer and developers. This was very well received, and our company workflow saw improvements almost right away with accelerated efficiency in work.

Product UX Feedback

As a part of these training sessions, I gathered feedback on our engine and presented it to our core product development team. This led to discussions and plans to accordingly improve or even at times re design certain features to make them easy to use.
